Santiago Piñeros Serrano – Musical Director
Santiago Piñeros Serrano is the Musical Director of the Albert Park Singers.
Santiago began his musical training at the National Symphony Conservatoire in Colombia. He continued his education at Juan N Corpas University, where thanks to the guidance and thorough training provided by Professors Alejandro Salazar and Joge Zorro he was awarded a Laureate degree in Conducting. In 2010 he was awarded the first prize in conducting at the Ibague International Music Festival, which came with a traineeship to attend the Premier Orchestra Institute in Mississippi (USA).
After two years of leading the orchestra at the Huila Conservatoire he received a bursary award from Bowling Green State University, where under the tutorship of Dr Emily Freeman Brown he was awarded an MM upon completion of postgraduate studies in conducting.
Since 2007 he has attended several choral and orchestral conducting masterclasses including the orchestra conducting masterclass led by Sian Edwards at St Andrews University as their bursary award winner in 2018.
Santiago’s conducting engagements include collaborations in opera productions, working with choirs, wind symphonies and orchestras in Colombia, Argentina, USA and UK. Currently he is Music Director of the Albert Park Singers, Blackbird Leys Choir, and Associate Lecturer in Music Performance at Oxford Brookes University.

Michiyo Machida – Accompanist
Michiyo Machida studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music where she completed her BA in Music. She continued her piano studies at Staatliche Musikhochschule in Stuttgart, Germany where she attained an MA with the highest mark.
Michiyo has appeared both as a soloist and as part of a chamber group in many concerts in the UK, Germany, and Japan, including a performance of Mozart’s piano concerto in Germany. Her debut recital in Japan was awarded the Art Festival Prize and received many favourable reviews in the press. Some of her solo and chamber performances have been aired on Japanese and German radio (NHK and ZDF respectively).
Throughout her career, Michiyo has collaborated with many instrumentalists and singers here and abroad. Alongside teaching for many years, Michiyo has worked as a repetiteur to Abingdon-Witney College singing group, Oxford Touring Opera, Abingdon Operatic Society, and Opera Anywhere, in the UK. Currently she’s enjoying working with the Albert Park Singers and Abingdon Gospel Choir.
